It will climb up it self without a trellis if it is leaning against a structure. If you see it go where you do not want it, just cut off the end of the vine or just tuck it into the plant. Blooms from mid spring to late fall. The first flush of flowers almost covers the leaves. Then it will bloom a little less untill frost. I am in zone 5. Sun to mostly shade, mine is in the sun.You will get 3, 2 foot long cuttings.
